This is not "Breaking News"...too many headlines from the Patch are labeled "Breaking News" and if you subscribe to more than 1 town, you get several "Breaking News" stories...at least if the subject indicated what the headline is you could delete the duplicates...It's gotten to the point I don't open many of these anymore...it's like "crying wolf"...breaking news should be for real emergencies, such as roads to avoid because of a major accident, flooding in certain areas or other such disasters...not that the comments are not working!!
It also would be helpful, for those of us who do subscribe to multiple towns news, to filter the duplicates...perhaps send just 1 email, with all the town articles concatenated into the message...not only would this be more efficient on the server, it would avoid seeing the same article in 4 or 5 different emails.

Thanks, SB. Girl. You have a valid point. I felt it was important to get the message out to people that this component was not working. This has become a very important component of our system, and the only way we can communicate directly with people is to use the mechanism that sends an email directly to your inbox. I apologize to you and others if this created an inconvenience.

Hard to tell if comments are being posted when they are being "Pended" first ... I made two or three comments this morning, all pending I believe.

All the votes for The Fractured Prune being the best donut in Ocean City must have crashed the comment section!

FYI, your new "noreply" new format on following comments STINKS! When following multiple issues and article comments, and a reader would like to open emails in order in which they are posted, you don't know what article until you open it!...why did you change something that worked just fine?

I woke up to * 37 noreply emails * this morning alone! And I had deleted at least 10-15 of them throughout the day /evening just before I shut down the computer for the night.... I kept unfollowing articles, and clearing notifications in my profile, but it didn't help.
I emailed to patch support and told them. Within a few hours they disabled ALL email notifications etc for my account because apparently that was the only way to stop it. (I'm totally OK with that!)
Thanks Patch Support!

GREAT!

Dear Patch Support,
I would very much like to have ALL email notices disabled too!! After being absent from the Patch for several days, I've come back and started getting the dreaded noreply emails! Clicking "stop following" or un-clicking "send me email updates" doesn't seem to help.

I was surprised there was nothing on Patch about the supposed earth quack felt by many.

Technical issue or conveniently inaccessible!? I for one enjoy my daily dose of entertainment. I'm guessing Mayor Acropolis selectively ordered a "brown out". Try turning down the voices in your heads . Just a suggestion. Please do whatever it takes. I'm almost finished my morning routine and need to move on. I'm getting a headach just stessing over the prospect...Just Saying

A special thank you to all who attended The Living Last Supper drama on April 5th and 6th at the Ocean City Tabernacle. It is estimated that 1,500 people came to the drama on Thursday and Friday nights.

Which brings to mind the sign in the Post Office saying "dogs allowed only if accompanied by blind people" and begs the question; who are those signs for?

Mr. ? -- As folks on the editorial side of things, we have no direct control over many of the technical inner-workings of the site. If you need technical assistance with something or have a comment on something on the tech end, drop me an e-mail and I'll forward to the appropriate folks. My e-mail is daniel.nee@patch.com.

Why do comments now have a "pending" status?

I could be wrong, but I think that started because in the last few months there have been a lot of yahoos posting nasty and inappropriate comments and personal attacks against others. Not entirely a bad idea, but it does disrupt the flow of comments and discussion. And there seems to be quite a few kinks in the system since it was implemented.

Some comments still not showing up, yet they are listed on the home page as a recent entry.

And I still get an email about every comment even though I uncheck the email option.

EggsnToast: as one of my colleagues, Daniel Nee, already noted, you need to email one of us about a technical problem and then we will forward that to our technical staff. Those staff members do not read Comments on Patch sites. Thank you. My email is denise.distephan@patch.com.
