Davis and Lowe Unchallenged in Lakehurst Republican Council Primary

The two are running for as many seats in November election

With no Democratic challengers running in the Lakehurst primary or independents filing petitions for candidacy, two borough council members will run unopposed for their available seats come November 6.

The terms of Republican Borough Council members James Davis and Gary Lowe will expire in 2012. Davis, of Maple Street, received 66 votes and Lowe, of Willow Street, garnered 64 votes in the borough's June 5 Republican primary.

No independent candidates filed a petition to run by the June 5 deadline, according to the Ocean County Clerk's Office.

Lowe joined the council by appointment in January, filling the seat left vacant when former council member Harry Robbins became mayor.

Manchester operates with a nonpartisan form of government, meaning the township did not hold a primary vote. Petition applications for those wishing to run for the three available Township Council seats are available at the clerk's office in the Manchester Municipal Complex on Colonial Drive.
