Former Manchester Police Dispatcher Dies While Firefighting
Scott Morrison, a North Carolina fire chief who served in Manchester from 1987-1993, was pronounced dead Sunday
A former Manchester police dispatcher, who recently served as a fire chief in North Carolina, died Sunday after going into respiratory and cardiac arrest while battling a fire, according to WTKR in North Carolina.
Chief Scott Morrison, who served in Manchester from 1987-1993, was treated at the scene by Currituck EMS and en route to a hospital in Virginia. They were not able to revive him, and Morrison was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m., according to WTKR in North Carolina.
Morrison, chef of the Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department, had been fighting a brush fire located in the 500 block of Knotts Island Road, near Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge, along with other volunteer firefighters shortly after 3 p.m, according to WTKR in North Carolina.
Morrison is survived by his wife, Jessica, and two children – one son and one daughter, according to WTKR in North Carolina.
