UPDATE: High School Will Reopen Thursday Following Bomb Threat

Building evacuated Wednesday morning; afternoon middle school classes canceled

Manchester Township High School will reopen on Thursday, a day after authorities say a threat was made against the building.

The superintendent's office confirmed that classes will resume on Thursday and Superintendent of Schools David Trethaway is recording a phone message that will be delivered to parents alerting them to the situation.

Students were dismissed at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday after an undisclosed threat on the building was discovered. An emergency email message was delivered shortly after 11 a.m.

"We've taken precautionary measures and evacuated the school," said Manchester Chief of Police Brian Klimakowski at that time. He added that the threat did not appear to be credible and declined to comment on how it was made.

K-9 units from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department and the Joint Base Task Force conducted "a thorough search of the building," said Manchester Police Capt. Lisa Parker.

Police continue to investigate the incident, Parker said.

The afternoon middle school session at the building was canceled for Wednesday, according to the district.

Also responding to the scene were the Manchester and Ridgeway volunteer fire departments and the township's Office of Emergency Management.

When I was it high school we use to go to football field until the shool was cleared and I was in school 40 something years ago, and it was nice enough day. That's why I saw kids on the streets. Sure hope they caught this caller.

First of all any threat/message like this should be considered and treated as "credible". Whether it was a joke, threat or someone reaching out for help, there is no excuse for it. Everyone today knows this is a sensitive/serious subject, whether you are a kid or an adult. Hopefully the person(s) who did this is thoroughly investigated by law enforcement and by a physician....including the parents, family members and freinds.

If you attended the meeting this not about the children but about money.

Which is questionable about any savings.

Kids think they are so funny and so clever. They will find out who did this, because kids also can not keep their mouths shut. When they do catch the kid(s) I promise you they will wish they never did this. Years ago when I went to school, when they had these, we sat on the fields outside the schools until the school was clear and we could go back in. Now a days, you can't even take that chance. look at all the crazy things that have gone on in the high schools in the past decade. You can't take anything as a joke anymore.......Because its not funny..

This has been happening there for years. I want my daughter out of there and my son not to attend when he is of age. This is getting old. VERY OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! This time more officials were there than any other time. WHY? Also, the "THREAT" happened quite early and the school waited until the testing was done...THEY SHOULD HAVE EVACUATED RIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED.

HAVE THEY EVER CAUGHT ONE CALLER OUT OF THE 8 TIMES IN 4 YEARS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED? AND IF SO, WHY WEREN'T THE CALLERS TOLD TO US CITIZENS? WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW. THIS IS EXTREMELY SERIOUS. THE BOMBINGS THAT HAVE BEEN HAPPENING IN PINE LAKE PARK CAN BE PRACTICE FOR WHAT THEY REALLY WANT TO DO AND MAY HAVE A PLAN TO DO.
