Again, a forgotten group, our elderly. Was there no family, no friends, neighbors that could have helped prevent this ? Just so sad to have to end your life in that kind of fear , all alone.

Heartbreaking. There was not enough support through this for people who did not suffer a loss or damage of home, but were just without power. Being without power in these temps at night is just as dangerous as flooding, fires, etc. Oftentimes people seemed to say that you were lucky to "only" be without power considering some people were in far worse conditions, but 30 degree temps are deadly. Thoughts are with the families.

This just breaks my heart....what an awful why to end a long life! I too wonder where were friends or neighbors if family was not available? Shame on you who left these people to die and only thought of yourselves, if that is the case.

Suz -- Although I agree with you, I know one of them and I know that they refused to leave their home as much as anyone tried to get them to go, which a lot of people did.

Unbelievable, I blame the authorities. Why didn't anyone order them to evacuate and provide them with a safe shelter.

Some people are stubborn, and even with a mandatory evacuation, refuse to leave. My father is 2 blocks from the bay and will NEVER leave. Nothing we can do.

This is terribly sad.
Part of me feels that they died in the arms of the homes they loved and that somehow gives me a little peace.

I agree, This is too sad, when a person reaches 94 yrs old we already can say she is a survivor. To die from hypothermia is tragic, and not a natural death. My sympathies to her famIly.

And now the deaths from power company incompetence begin. We are going on nearly 2 weeks without power in winter temperatures with Governor Christie giving out a "Good Job Brownie" style shoutout to the power companies.

First of all, my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and family. Secondly, in all due respect, everyones' houses are not back to normal after the storm. How can we call this "incompetence" on the parts of the power companies? I am sure they are trying their best.

I feel horrible hearing this. Everyone I know was concentrating on families that lost their homes. We were also asking around though to make sure people that lost power had some way to keep warm if they were staying in their homes. Heartbreaking that nobody checked on these people.

You know, I am getting tired of you people who know little but comment about the things you know nothing about. ALL of the lineman and employees of the power companies I see, JCP&L and all the out of state companies who came here to help them are busting their humps to get us all up and online. Many of you don't understand, there is more to getting the power on in your house or neighborhood than the power lines you see in your street or around the corner. Major damage has occurred from this storm, 48,000 volt lines are down that supply the transformers that give you your power to your home. Sub stations have blown transformers, these things take time to fix, and thousands of dollars to purchase. You just have to use your heads and find ways of coping or finding alternate sources of shelter or power. We have been out for 10 days and our neighborhood has banded together to solve our problems, maybe you should stop complaining and do the same. Thank You JCP&L and all the other companies who have come to our rescue, We know, your doing your best, with what you have to work with.

I think JCP&L & all that came to help did an awsome job. Thanks to all the workers from NJ & all states that left there famlies to come & help ours .

I have to say I agree with your common sense approach and compassion. Less whining and to be "Thankful" that you are not someone who loss a loved one do to this storm, that you sill have parents, a home and your important items that mean something to you that many have loss. Be thankful to Officials and JCP&L that are trying the best that they can. Who left their families to help ours who have been working around the clock. Stop thinking of yourself and think of the many who are worse off then you.

Thank you. My husband is just one Verizon lineman who has been working 7 days a week, 12 - 16 hour days, since the storm. It is more than uprighting the poles and reattaching the cables. We are so sad to hear about the loss of life. One of those who died was a former customer of mine. My heart sank when I read her name. She was always a pleasant, sweet, proper lady. RIP Celest. <3

Hi there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I'm getting fed up of Wordpress because I've had issues with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform http://jualeigeronline.blogspot.com/ and http://jualrumahgayungsari.blogspot.com/
