Lakehurst Man Arrested After Drug Raid on Hibernia Avenue

North Hanover woman arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

A Lakehurst man was arrested on drug charges after police stormed a residence with a search warrant early Friday.

Benjamin Dinkins, 42, was arrested after an investigation into the distribution of heroin led Lakehurst police and the Ocean County Regional SWAT North Team to enter 110 Hibernia Ave. after midnight.

After the home was secured, police seized marijuana, heroin and the prescription drug suboxone, Chief Eric Higgins said.

Dinkins, who was present at the time of the search, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin and suboxone); possession with intent to distribute heroin and suboxone; distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone; and possession of marijuana. 

Dinkins was remanded to the Ocean County Jail on $40,000 bail.

Ocean County Sheriff's Officer Jim Kohut and his K-9 also assisted the Lakehurst officers and Ocean SWAT team.

A North Hanover woman was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop Thursday.

Brittany Hornick, 22, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance after police stopped a 2006 Chevy in which she was a passenger for equipment violations, Higgins said.

When the chief and Officer Jeff Emmons approached the Chevy, a scent of marijuana was apparent, Higgins said.

Further investigation turned up marijuana and a pipe belonging to Hornick, police said.

She was processed and released on a summons pending an appearance in Municipal Court.

The driver of the vehicle, Donald Cummings, 22, of Columbus was issued traffic tickets for improper display of plates, tinted windows, visibility of lamps and unclear plates.
