Reversing a decision to remain closed until Nov. 12, educators announced that the Lakehurst School District will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The borough's elementary school will open on a 90-minute delay Tuesday, Superintendent of Schools Jill Dobrowansky said. No breakfast will be served, but lunch will be available.
Wednesday will be a regular, full day of school for students. Though originally scheduled to be closed on Thursday and Friday for the New Jersey Education Association convention, Lakehurst students will have class those days though they will be dismissed at 12:25 p.m. Breakfast will be available, but there will be no lunch or transportation, Dobrowansky said.
All after school activities are canceled for this week but will resume on Monday, Nov. 12, according to the superintendent.
Last week, it was announced that Lakehurst Elementary School would remain closed the entire week as much power was out to the borough, including that building. JCP&L reported on Monday that 69 of its over 1,250 Lakehurst customers remain in the dark.
On Sunday, Gov. Chris Christie urged school districts to open on Monday if possible. All schools in Manchester were able to open Monday.
