Leisure Village West Sandy Fundraiser Brings In $23K and Counting

Telethon kicked off fundraising event Thursday afternoon

Over $23,000 in Hurricane Sandy relief funds has been raised through a Leisure Village West telethon held Thursday and organizers on Friday continue to welcome donations.

The live broadcast was available to those living in the retirement community on station KLVW Thursday. Residents were invited to Willow Hall to watch the event live and partake in refreshments.

Manchester Mayor Michael Fressola and other township administrators attended the benefit which featured live musical acts and was produced by village trustees Ryan and Sandra Kaufman, said Councilman-elect Charles Frattini. Village residents and clubs also contributed to the event.

All proceeds will be split between Ocean County Hunger Relief and the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

"It is not too late to contribute," Frattini said. Checks can be made out to LVW Hurricane Relief and sent to 959 Buckingam Dr., Manchester NJ 08759.

For more information on how to make a donation, call 732-657-9100, 732-657-9109 or 732-657-1818.
