Its great to say you have an open door policy but'little or no attention' should've been left out- maybe say you could understand more if the person comes forward to discuss- your words and article title are dismissive and are negative...just saying

Also not everyone has time or personality to go in person- Im sure if it was subject that interested you it wouldn't matter

Does anyone else see the irony in this article ? The Mayor states: "I pay little or no attention to anonymous letters". Then why respond at all ?

The title of the fairy tale should be 'Little or No Attention' Paid to Anyones Letters". This man is so arrogant I can't understand how he was elected in the first place.

Comments about a lot of things (Snookie jokes, stack of clippings left, etc), but not about his and his council taking money from a builder and then pushing though a zoning change. There we get silence.

An obvious anger-control issue and an overzealous code official at his disposal, and still the curiosity as to why anonymity is preferred? Did it matter who told on you when you were slapped by the election/finance board?

Focus on the questions and the concerns, not the name of the person...don't deflect. I think it is a good thing that you are active on here…just lose the bizarre “come and say it to my face” hang-up on confronting people who have concerns about their town.

Then he wonders why many of us dont respect him, & not that he seems to care if we do or dont.

i can tell you this mayor paid very little attention to people during the storm. no news, no help, no information from the mayors office during the first week. people left in the dark and city hall was not open, nor information on website. i would not vote for him. very thankful to the patch during this time.

I have to add to this discussion that the mayor has always made himself available to me with any concern I may have. We may not see eye to eye on some subjects, but he does entertain my concerns.

The Manchester Website lists very little administrative staffs email. It is the internet age and this convenience should be available to the residents. This would suggest a more open policy. Just because a letter, email or call is annonymous does not necessarily invalidate or make it erroneous. Many governmenat agencies rely on annonymous information to draw light on an issue. I don't believe it is in the interest of the residents for the Mayor to brush this issue with a broad stroke.

In Re: [Michael Fressola, Mayor, Township of Manchester, Complaint
This matter having come before the Local Finance Board (Board) pursuant to the Local Government Ethics Law, N.J.S.A. et seq., upon complaint that Mayor Michael Fressola used the address and telephone number of the Township of Manchester City Hall in a political mail piece, using the resources of the Township for his personal gain and securing unwarranted privileges or advantages for himself and his campaign in violation of N.J.S.A. and,
WHEREAS, the Board determined that the allegations were within its jurisdiction, were not frivolous and were based upon a reasonable factual basis, authorized an investigation of this complaint; and

WHEREAS, the Local Government Ethics Law states:
N.J.S.A. 40A: No local government officers or employee shall use or attempt to use his official position to secure unwarranted privileges or advantages for himself or others; and,
WHEREAS, the Board, having considered the matter and the relevant statements and presented and all documentation with the written response to the allegations submitted by Mayor Fressola, concluded that the use of the Municipal Building address and telephone number in the letterhead of a political mailer distributed in connection with the May
11, 2010 election constitutes the use or attempted use of Mayor Fressola's official position to
secure an unwarranted privilege or advantage for himself or others in violation of N.J.S.A.
It is therefore,
DETERMINED that Mayor Michael Fressola shall be assessed a fine in the amount of $100.00 for the violation as related to his engaging in activities prohibited by the statute. Said fine shall be payable to: Treasurer, State of New Jersey, and be submitted to: Thomas H. Neff, Chair, Local Finance Board, P.O. Box 803, Trenton, New Jersey, 08625 immediately. If payment of said fine is not received within 10 days receipt of this NOTICE, Mayor Fressola is subject to additional fines as determined by the Board in accordance with its powers in N.J.S.A.40A:9-
22.10, Violations and Penalties.
