Local John Wesley was an engineer on the New Jerset Southern Railroad. He operated a locomotive until he retired, and after serving as an engineer of the Blue Comet. The train engine, which ran through the area, was one of the fastest on any railroad.

Excellent......we need to know about our heritage in the area. Some people think that the Garden State Parkway was always here! Did you know that there was Pizza shop where the north bound jug handle of Route 166 is today, and Route 37 wasn't always known as that!

Tom, any word on if this site is getting another editor since Greg is now writing for Toms River? The historical pieces are nice but it seems there was more current news when Greg was handling Manchester. Thanks.

i always look forward to reading the Patch. It really is the only good source of news out here. I even forward the emails to my Dad in Florida who own lakefront property at Pine Lake fro the early 50's until 1988. lot's has changed since I was a kid but feel good to now be a permanent resident of the area again!
