The Township Council said farewell to two councilmen at their regular meeting last night, and reappointed the township's chief financial officer to the post.

Mayor Michael Freesola honored Frederick Trutkoff and Warren Reiter with a proclamation honoring their service, and the council awarded both men a clock for their dedication.

Trutkoff, a member since 2004, and Reiter, a member since 2008 opted, not to seek reelection this year, citing a desire to spend more time with their families.

Council President Craig Wallis called his fellow council members "honest, hardworking, and dedicated," adding, "their dedication to the residents of this town is unquestionable. I greatly appreciate being able to serve with them."

Another Council member, Sam Fusaro added: "It is bittersweet to see you both go ... your experience commitment and dedication will be missed here."

In the comments portion of the meeting, Reiter said: "you have all been wonderful to me, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart."

Trutkoff also thanked the council and other members of the community, calling everyone "very supportive. I also wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy new year."

In other business, the council swore in the reappointed Diane Lapp as the township's CFO.

In accepting her position, Lapp thanked the council, and added to Reiter and Trutkoff, "Warren and Fred, it is so bittersweet to say goodbye to you both. You were the watchdogs on the budget, and I thank you for that so much, and wish you well."

What Manchester really needs is to say goodbye to this mayor.

Actually, we need a major shakeup and change in the whole political makeup of Manchester Township. The longer these people remain in office, the more powerful they perceive themselves to be. The unfortunate truth is, however, no one else wants to be involved or cares who is at the helm these days. Apathy is what feeds the same old thing!

How nice of the mayor and council to give themselves raises just days after the election!

Balderdash!
Where were you? He was personally delivering bottles of water, food and Ice to residents without power.
Where were you? He worked day and night with residents and officials to try and help speed up the process of restoring power to the communities.
Where were you when the lights went out? He was working! Were you hiding behind your keyboard then as you are doing now...spouting nonsense. It must still be dark in your life. Maybe you didn't even notice when the lights went out.

I’m not one to defend the administration; but I believe the Mayor and especially his folks (police, public works) availed themselves exceptionally well both with Sandy and the snow storm the week following. Just my opinion…
