Police Blotter: Charges Issued by Lakehurst Officers

Lakehurst police issued charges last weekend

The following charges were issued last week by officers, according to information released by Sgt. Ronald Heinzman. Charges brought against individuals by police are not an indication of guilt. 

Saturday, Feb. 4

Lakehurst police were checking vacant houses when they located two adults and one minor inside a shed in the rear yard of a home on the 800 block of Oak Street at about 4:30 p.m. Ana Morea, 18, and a 17-year-old, both from Toms River, and Harold Hester-Taylor, 18, of Lakehurst were charged with trespassing by officer Iain James and released pender a court date, Heinzman said.

Later that day, officer Jeffrey Johnson found that two juveniles — one from Lakehurst and the other Manchester — were on the property of Saint John's Roman Catholic Church at 9:41 p.m., after borough curfew. They were released to their parents, who were issued summonses, Heinzman said.

An early morning traffic stop yielded a driving while intoxicated charge for a Toms River man. Police said that Justin Carloni, 22, was traveling westbound on Route 37 and almost lost control of his car entering the Lakehurst Circle. Carloni was also issued charges for reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and obstructed view by officer Jeffrey Emmons, Heinzman said. 

A Jackson man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police said that he drove his truck through the Lakehurst Circle at a high rate of speed and nearly lost control at about 12:51 p.m. In addition to DWI, Officer Matthew Kline charged David McDermott, 54, of Jackson, with reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and careless driving. McDermott was released pending a municipal court date, Heinzman said.
