Police: K-9 Unit Called to Help Remove Wanted Man from Lakehurst Attic
Man was wanted on a $5,000 warrant issued by the borough's municipal court
A Lakehurst man wanted on an outstanding $5,000 borough municipal court warrant was apprehended by authorities on Tuesday.
Police were alerted that 28-year-old Aaron Brown, who was wanted by Lakehurst police for three counts of simple assault and one count of serving alcohol to a minor, was spotted by "a concerned resident" at the Pine Street residence where the incidents allegedly took place on Jan. 6, said Sgt. Ron Heinzman.
Officers Jeffrey Emmons and Raymond Voesseller responded to the home and were met at the door by Brown's girlfriend, Nicole Hyatt, who initially told them that he was not inside. After questioning she admitted that Brown was hiding in the attic, Heinzman said.
The residence was secured as Lakehurst police waited for Ocean County Sheriff's Department Officer Ted Wielichoski and Titan, his K-9 partner. Emmons and Sgt. Brian Baranyay were able to convince Brown to exit the attic without incident.
"A few barks from Titan helped the situation," Heinzman said.
Brown now faces an additional charge of obstruction of justice and was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. Brown also had an outstanding warrant issued by the Holmdel Municipal Court for $1,539 in traffic offenses, Heinzman said.
Hyatt was arrested and charged with hindering Brown's apprehension and was released on a summons, Heinzman said.
