Police: Man Found with Two Loaded Handguns in Truck
Discovery was made after police performed a traffic stop
A Manchester police patrolman recovered two loaded handguns from a truck driven by a Georgia man earlier this week.
Ptl. Joseph Fastige stopped the 2000 Dodge Ram pickup on Route 37 near Commonwealth Boulevard for a broken taillight at about 5:46 p.m. on Jan. 17. When Fastige spoke with the driver, 25-year-old Timothy J. Maulbeck Jr. of Avera, Georgia, the officer learned that two handguns were concealed in the truck's passenger compartment, said Capt. Lisa Parker in a statement.
Fastige found a loaded 9mm Taurus semi-automatic handgun in the center console and a .38 caliber RG revolver in the passenger compartment, Parker said. A loaded 9mm handgun magazine was also discovered in the truck.
Maulbeck was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a handgun and was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps and having unclear license plates, Parker said.
Parker said that Maulbeck was released on his own recognizance.
