They are absolutely a disgrace. We get no services for the amount of money we pay. Yes. We have no rateables but whose fault is that ? Great job mayor

try living in another area. In Hamilton Township my father pays over $8,000.00 for his adverage size property.
The township my mother lives in, she pays over $4,000.00 for her adverage size and gets less services than we get here. Look around and ask around. Its too easy to cry high taxes, but we really pay an adverage.

i agree with Concerned...... manchester has the HIGHEST RATE of seniors living in the area. the taxes they pay are out of CONTROL. us as handymen who do jobs for them in the town of manchester cut our rate cause we also know they don't have the money....... The other thing is WHY can't manchester get on the ball, and be able to pay monthly payments over the internet like other towns????? in this day and age how do you come up with that kind of money in one month when it don't hurt as much monthly!! Get on the ball manchester and wake up..... this is our older generation. Don't you think it's hard enough for them with medical bills and such to worry about losing their homes as well!!

Out of control to say the least.
Our property value has gone down hill, tax rates stay the same or go up!! Those in
township jobs get raises!!
In an economy like we presently have, NO ONE should get a raise at the taxpayers expense!!
People take a good look around you, vote those out of public office who are of no use to the taxpayer. and above ALLL exercise your right to vote!! or you have only yourself to blame!!

11 votes and already it's off the charts!! What does this tell the town? This is not the first time this has gone into vote, yet the township dosen't listen. Doing us the favor of "TAKING A POLL" don't do pop squat. It's action. And let's not forget the INTEREST the town tacks on when your late with your tax payment???? If we don't have the money in the first place to pay the bill on time, what makes you think we have the money in the second place to pay the interest!!!! Geeee that's a tough one!! Let's get a 6 yr old to figure that one out........

We hired a lawyer to fight the taxes. The town is getting ready to re-assess our homes again. I wrote Gov. Christie a letter about this. I think it is their loophole to raise the taxes above the cap.
I often wonder why the Senior Citizen capital of the state has one of the highest paid police forces in the state??? Services? where I live I don't get trash pick up or mail delivery.
I work for the private sector where we have not seen raises in 10 years. Yet our town employees keep getting raises. ugh.
You bet I am voting this mayor out.

The mayor is far from blameless and it's the seniors who continue to vote for this guy and his "Good Government" cronies. You can count on two things in Manchester when it comes to the senior vote - a "yes" vote for Mayor Mike and a "no" vote for school budgets. You reap what you sow.

didn't vote for him anyway. he likes to hang up the phone when you try to talk tohim about sinple things like a track for the seniors to walk while watching the kids play in the pop warner baseball field...... his responce was go to the high school track and hung up!! Well if that's the case, why don't the kids play there too!! What's good for one should be good for all.... < just sayin >

I live in PLP and when we moved in 15 years ago, we had very reasonable taxes. Now, they are way too high. Property value has gone down, but we're still being taxed on inflated values of a few years ago when they reassessed. They should be about $2000.00 less than they are for my house.

They are way to high. I moved down here about 6 years ago from Old Bridge and my taxes are way higher then my friends that still live their. Maybe it's about time for the mayor to retire because he's killing the taxpayer. I am happy to say I've never and will never vote for him.

its an absolute disgrace what we pay in taxes. something has to be done with the board of education they are sucking the life out of us. i have no problem paying for police and fire departments but the boe this is way out of control we should start with the axing of the superintendents aka trethaway and baxter

That leaves us with the question........ if we pay so much in school taxes, what's this crap about the NEW JERSEY LOTTERY???? Their always saying on how much of the lottery is going towards education??? I save my lottery tickets every year, not for nothing, i haven't hit big by no means, but i have spent almost 7 grand on tickets through the course of the year. Let's see........ I buy lottery tickets for the state of NJ but i can't get a percentage back on my NJ taxes, even tho their telling me the money goes for different donations??? And in the same breath, i have to pay higher school taxes cause of the money that's needed to run the schools???? HELLOOOOOooooooo, can someone please help me out of this card board box i'm in!!

So tell me, on this poll that is being taken, does the township get this print out? Do they read what the people of manchester are saying? or is this just a way to laugh at us & piss off the public while still making higher tax demands?????

Ms. Kincaid you say your income is $667.00 a month, so how on earth are you are you paying for $7,000 in lottery tickets when you only make $8,004 a year. That leaves you with $1,004, now you need to do the math. Its not just the townships fault there are higher property taxes it all trickles down from your federal government whom is claiming poverty. As for the lottery tickets sales a portion of that money does go to great programs that do aide our senior population.

Ms Dimeo, i know how to add, my husband has an income too!! Your also saying the lottery aids the senior population???? OK that's fine... BUT IN WHAT? Same thing with schools? What way do they help? I'm open to hear what you have to say "BUT" My personal feeling is, it AIDS MORE to politics then it does to the causes.

Ms. Kincaid, I have never heard of any of the lottery programs in any state aiding in any schools. It is usually for the benefit for older Americans. One of the programs in Nj is the PAAD and Senior Gold programs. As a parent of school children I know the amount of money I have to pay for supplies every school year. As for politicians taking money from the lottery system it probably is true, they take money from every where. The only problem I have is the complaints you are making about taxes when you are blowing money on "the dream". But the older Americans you are aiding in getting assistance with their medications do appreciate it. So keep living the dream.

I'm going to be nice about this. First off, "I AM NOT A SENIOR" i however lucky enough to have "MS" living with my mother in a senior village.
Being a past multi business owner, i've paid more taxes and more license fees then you'll see in a life time. Second, stopping playing the lottery is my enjoyment. i refuse to sit in a corner and be nothing more then a rock, so smart @ss comments won't get you far only cause i am a product of NYC and can dozen your @ss into the ground. What my complaint is, is finding out where the taxes go!! Where the town taxes we pay go, where the lottery goes and of course the 7% we pay go. A break down of percentages would be nice. I'd like to know how much is going into pockets while our seniors, school kids & towns are falling down around us, while being in politics are living large. lottery tickets if you pay attention at all, should be going to our schools not for just education but for also feeding our children lunches. NO child should be hungry. I've donated my time in troubled schools where teachers "DESERVE" every amount of pay. What i am not for, is our town going to pot with dead trees, unfinished sidewalks, non garbage pick ups, 1/2 fast snow removals and so on. Yes, while i can take the 7 grand i have paid for lottery tickets over the course of the year and pay my taxes ( what i do any way ) The Question is, where is the money going too and NOT what i do with my money!!

Ms. Kincaid, If thats what you call being nice then I should really be afraid cause you are from NYC. Of course you've seen more taxes you are older than me, and as for being a multi-business owner you obviously didn't pay too much into ssd since you are not getting that much. You can do what you want with your money, just don't make it sound like you are in this terrible situation alone. Especially when you are living with your mother and husband so you have triple income coming into one house where as most seniors only have one. If you want to know where all this money goes then look it up or make some phone calls. I posted a website here for you about the lotterty system I hope it helps. http://www.state.nj.us/lottery/where/4-0_where.htm And I'm sorry to hear about your MS, my aunt died from it. Its a horrible desease.

I have a couple of questions for those that complain about the taxes in Manchester:
Did you sign up and run for office yourself in the last election?
Did you vote in the last election?
Did you vote did you vote for Bill Peck in the last election?
Did you as a minimum work to help Bill Peck with his election?
If you can't answer YES to these questions...
Think about it!

property taxes in all of NJ are too high. Bottom line the government workers benefits are breaking the bank. I work for the private sector. There are no retirement benefits. My sister is a retired school teacher. She retired at 55 years old and does not have to work another day in her life. She and her husbands health benefits are paid for for the rest of their lives. There are 2 classes of people. Those who are in the system and those who are not. Those who are in the system have excellent benefits paid for by our high property taxes. Alot of us who are not in the system have no benefits at all. We have to save up for our selves and pay out for those in the system. It really seems unfair.

Taxes are lower in manchester than other oc towns but what do we get for them? No trash pickup, no sidewlks, no curbs, crap parks, no decent rec for the kids, a polluted lake, a landfill stinking up half the town, a public works department forced to do things in house like the several month long unfinised sidewalk project from lvw to town hall for what reson no one knows, crooked wavey curbs on the way to hs, a half dead chrismas tree infront of town hall because no one saw the insects there all summer, flooded roads all over plp, and township street sweeping in the private villiges when one has not gone past my house since 1995.

Hello aermanc,
If you only knew. The town operates under their "own" set of rules. They are ever so brash in their conduct. How come the operators are loading the residents with that lousy dirt from the dump. I thought they outlawed that for some reason. Then there is always the hand shake Hmmmmm? interesting. I feel sorry for the men who work at the DPW. They are truely the people who lose--their salaries are something to be desired---meanwhile,raises are given out without any approval. Hopefully the people of the town who have a vested interest in what is taking place will attend

Hello aermanc,

Yup--- I am under the impression that the men who work at the DPW have been and will continue to be without a contract for three years!!!---all the while handing out big raises across the board to ALL who agree to go along. Remember--as I am sure you are an intelligent individual that ALL things come to an end eventually! Did you know that the current SHOPSTEWARD of the PUBLIC WORKS is know saying that the reason why they (the DPW) does not have a contract as of yet is because the unwillingness from the Town to provide a reasonable wage. Explain that that! They were handing out raises across the board under the noses of every individual in the Town without an remorse any what they were doing. This was after raises,new-hires were to be frozen for an undisclosed period of time. Although the alaries of the men at the public is not the real issue(shhh they earn 12.50hr) It is disturbing to see that several in Town Hall have benefited from aligning themselves with those individuals who have NO ETHICS!!!!! So if you see your local DPW worker out and about trying to perform their duties----support them because they are hurting as well. They try to perform the duties to the best of their ability just to be forgotten. Did you know that most towns start their public works out at a stating salary of $38,500-----check it out. Most of the time providing minimal chores, while all the other work is contracted out.
