it should be moved out of our area.....just because most people "don't see it" the odors and noise pollution are unbearable at times. the bird feces on our homes, cars, etc. is disgusting. the odors have made us vomit at times just walking out the front door of our homes. they do nothing to control any of this. it has been years of pure torture for a lot of us. they even moved closer to our property lines and removed trees that were at least offering some protection. for those of you saying then why live there or move....easier said then done. and quite frankly noone's business. with that being said, when we bought our home we were told it was a nature preserve not a public andfill. once we were informed it was a landfill we were also told it would be closed down in the near future. 19 years later it is still open; it has expanded and closer to our homes and it has a negative effect on our lives. it does not only effect manchester but toms river as well. as they say "until you've walked a mile in someone elses shoes"....it needs to be shut down!!!!

Pamela is correct, the site has grown too large for the area, the smells in the hot weather are not very nice and the noise and bird feces keeps getting worse. The seagull problem at Renaissance is really bad. You have to see the roofing of the homes covered with big patches of gull feces.

Pamela, while I agree with you, the landfill is gross and I would not want to live next to it and moving is not a viable option for many if not most, I would have to guess it was the developer of your home not the landfill or township that told you it was a nature preserve and it was closing. Kinda like every car company builds the best cars. Sounds like you got duped by someone trying to make cash. Also by what I have seen from landfills that are closed the missery seems to continue with a host of problems after all why take care of it if your not making money on it anymore. I hope for you and your families sake some kind of relief comes.

The landfill should be expanded to include Holly Oaks.

I agree but what do expect when the mayor lives in a nice well kept gated community.

Your wrong Mike, Manchester is a dump. Can someone at the township please do there job and clean up this town! I guess Mayor Mike just does not see all the crap and junk on peoples lawns and in empty lots, It must be hard to see over the walls of his gated community.

Let me try this again cause for some reason my post from yesterday got removed! For what reason idk. Yes the landfill should be closed. We who live around it have put up with the noise, odors, and birds long enough! We have call in odor complaints to the health dept at all hours day & night only to have them say it isnt to a certain level or if it is they can get a violation, rarely happens. DEP Law states a violaition if it prevents nieghbors from enjoyment of properity. Methane gas / trash odors at 2 am or seeing the landfill spray chemical from a water cannon on the other side of your yard DEP ALSO states odors & birds must be contained to thier properity! The township passes the buck and collects properity taxes AND A HOST COMMUNITY FEE of a about $5.00 a ton. If that figure is wrong Mr Mayor please feel free to correct it. While on that subject, where does that money go?. Our Mayor has avoided this subject by not attending any of the public meetings on the last expansion project which brought the landfill to within 900 ft of our homes.
The birds continue to add to the polution in pine lake, despite what the Mayor has said in the past, that many birds doing thier bussiness on the sand and water cant help!

The mayors secret is out. The landfill generates millions in revenue via host tax per ton plus taxes. This money stays close to things that keep people around mayor happy. Salaries are better veterans are memorialized more often etc.
Lacey has power plant and they enjoy lower taxes and get trash service. That's a fact.
We host the landfill and are punished with high taxes, and no services.
NOT EVEN TRASH PICK UP, LITERALLY RUBBING OUR FACES IN THIS FAILURE OF MANAGEMENT.!
Imagine it without the landfill income. What would taxes shoot to???
Thanks town forefathers. Good job.
