Schools in Manchester, Lakehurst Closed Wednesday

Schools in both districts originally were closed Monday and Tuesday

Schools in Manchester and Lakehurst will be closed at least through Wednesday, both districts have announced.

Manchester administrators sent an emergency email notification Tuesday afternoon announcing that all district schools, including the Regional Day School in Jackson, will be closed Wednesday.

Superintendent of Schools David Trethaway said earlier in the day that he was visiting the buildings to check for damage. Some trees were down at the middle school and Ridgeway elementary, he said.

Lakehurst Superintendent of Schools Jill Dobrowansky said that the borough's elementary school has no power and will be closed Wednesday. Dobrowansky said that she spoke with JCP&L and was told that it may take 7 to 10 days to restore electricity to the school.
