Son Backs Car Out of Driveway, Strikes Pedestrian

Pedestrian turns out to be father.

The driver of a 2006 Chrysler Sebring was backing out of a residential driveway, on Westport Drive in the Whiting section of Manchester at approximately 10:39 this morning, when he struck a male pedestrian, who turned out to be his father.

The operator of the vehicle was 60-year-old Raul Hernandez Jr. 

The pedestrian, 88-year-old Raul Hernandez Sr., suffered non-life threatening infuries.

As a result of the crash, Raul Hernandez Sr. was transported to Community Medical Center by Quality Medical Transport for treatment of injuries to his face and head.

The crash remains under investigation by Manchester Township Traffic Safety Officer Ian Bole.
