Weekend Planner: Carriage Rides, Holiday Music Show and Civil War Christmas

1. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, Red Bank RiverCenter has hired Dream Horse Carriage to provide horse-drawn wagon rides to bring in shoppers to local businesses. Rides will be free. 2. It's Christmas 1944, and the Andrews Sisters are rehearsing when the postman delivers a package of mail from The Stars & Stripes ,which contains letters from servicemen who want to send a special Christmas greeting to their loved ones. As the Sisters read the letters, they sing some of their most famous Christmas arrangements in a musical suitable for the whole family.This event takes place at the Arts and Community Center in the Ocean County College, at 1 College Drive in Toms River, starting at 2 p.m. today. 3.The Albert Hall’s Holiday Music Show will be held in Waretown at the hall, located at 131 Wells Mills Road, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night. The live music begins at 7:30 p.m, featuring appearances by Warm Hearted Country Carolers, Sing Along with Santa & Bluegrass Road, Ladies Night Out, Southern Specific, Robbin & The Hoods and Pickin' Shed Jam. Santa Claus appears for a sing-a-long on the 8 p.m. through 9 p.m. set! Adult Admission is $5, and for children, it’s $1. Please call 609-971-1593 for more information.

 

4. Macculloch Hall Historical Museum in Morristown, NJ invites you to join us this holiday season. Step back in time and enjoy this beautiful historic home at this special time of year. Decorated for the holidays in traditional style by the Garden Club of Morristown, the gorgeous historic home provides a lovely setting to kick off the holiday season in luxurious surroundings. Visitors will find more than twenty five of Thomas Nast’s well-known original Santa and Christmas images throughout the museum’s galleries and period rooms.Find unique gifts created just for the museum's expanded holiday shop.  Special items include Thomas Nast Christmas cards, wrapping paper and limited edition ornaments, along with other traditional toys and unique stocking stuffers. Memberships to the Museum will also be available for purchase and make a great holiday gift as recipients can enjoy visits to the museum and current and upcoming exhibits through June 2012. 5. Come and enjoy the sights, smells and tastes of Christmas as America's Keswick celebrates the season in a spectacular Christmas Tree Display. The display will include trees decorated to depict a “Name of God” and several trees representing Christmas Carols. And you won’t want to miss the Candy Cane and the American Patriot trees! Along with the tree display, the Christmas Café and Gift Shop will be open. The display will be located in the Raws Auditorium and provides a perfect venue for luncheon and dinners from 20-120.
