Last Wednesday, November 28, 2012, I hand delivered a nice letter to my Congressman's office requesting a meeting to "discuss an issue only you can resolve."  It is an issue of great importance to this country, and I expect to be able to have a give and take with my representative.

Of course, the issue is the expiration of the Bush Tax credits, or the fiscal cliff.

I was told that the Congressman was in session.  I said I knew that, but when he gets off session and comes home, on the weekend, I would be available to meet with him.   I even suggested that if he was so busy that I would be available to meet in Washington DC.

Keep posted to see what happens.

Today I noticed that on November 30, 2012, Congressman Smith was in Monmouth County at a photo op, see this link -- http://www.flickr.com/photos/monmouthcountygov/8240975203/

So, while his staff erroneously stated that he was in session implying that it was difficult to meet with his constituents (btw, this point changed yesterday when seven constituents asked for a meeting).

Smith’s district covers 4 counties and 40 municipalities, and has almost 650,000 people. I have written him a few times over the years, and always receive a call from him or someone from his office.

I can’t believe that Congressman Smith didn’t drop everything on his schedule, and ignore everything else that might be going on to rush back and meet with you. Perhaps you should call the President up and tell on the congressman. I’m sure Obama will drop everything and take your call (if not, call him out in a blog…waiting for the callback Mr. President!).

Could not find my photo when I uploaded the story. Will find one, soon. Yes, someone is working on that soon.

I just posted an invitation for readers of Manchester Patch to contact Congressman Chris Smith and let him know their thoughts on his position on taxes. he is a very busy man, and I am certain that he will update his website and share his thoughts with us on this topic. If not, we can exchange our thoughts on this blog and discuss just how we can get together and and get the attention of his staff.

On Monday a bunch of us stood in front of his office with signs; by the way, lots of drivers honked and gave us the thumbs up.. I will post the photo.

Today I went to the Post Office but stopped off and dropped a Christmas Card; of course I asked for a meeting for a third time in writing. I hear that people are calling the office and leaving messages. There is no doubt the message is getting through.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Hamilton Office of Congressman Smith told me that they sent my request for a meeting to DC. So, I hand delivered a letter on November 28th to the Whiting office, they sent it to the "Scheduler" in Hamilton, she sent it to DC.

@Talktome and @Thomas I Mooney: email me at kabx101@gmail.com and if you want information on Actions. Also folks, I noticed that Congressman Chris Smith has taken a brave step and joining a group of representatives in favor of tax credits for Hurricane Sandy victims (http://bit.ly/ZzMtjV) -- Runyon and LoBiondo too! Let's hope they can take that one brave step more to go up against their leadership, and give tax credits to those making under $250,000.

Check out Representative Smith's website. See just what he considers NEWS. Not a word about the financial cliff or the shooting in CT nor any statement about his position on gun control

Last Monday we stood in front of the office and cars honked and gave us the thumbs up!!!! Maybe Congressman Smith is reading the Patch? Maybe some constituents have another way to communicate with him? We know that Republicans all listen to the big lobbyists; now we know they don't listen to the people who vote for them.

Maybe Christie is the same?
