Vote November 5th for Amber Gesslein- NJ State Assembly Legislative District 10

Amber Gesslein is running together with Susan Kane of Whiting for the New Jersey State Assembly in the 10th Legislative District whose Ocean County communities include Bay Head, Brick, Island Heights, Lakehurst, Lavallette, Manchester, Mantoloking, Point Pleasant Beach, Seaside Heights and Toms River.

Born in Point Pleasant Boro, Amber, 25, moved to Brick Township at the tender age of 2 and is an Adjunct Instructor teaching three Undergraduate Government courses at Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ. Amber is a graduate of the Nathan Weiss Graduate College of Kean University, Union, NJ where she received her MA in Political Science and was a member of the National Political Science Honors Society, Pi Sigma Alpha.

She received her BS in Government from Suffolk University, Boston, MA , Honors and cum laude / Top 5% in Government Department/Deans List for all 4 Semesters.

Amber currently serves as an elected Committee member for the 7th District in Brick, NJ, and is a founding member of the Brick Township Young Democrats. She also currently holds the Corresponding Secretary position of the Brick Democratic Club.

She first interned for John Adler's Congressional Race in 2010 leading up to the election by participating in numerous phone banking sessions and entering voter data into spread sheets/mailings and press releases as well as attending many political events to ensure his re-election.

During her last semester of graduate school, Amber interned at the New Jersey Democratic State Committee in Trenton helping to track candidate activities and other political issues, engaging in party building, outreach work to different constituencies, setting up and attending events and special projects leading up to the National Election.  This afforded her the opportunity to staff the NJ Delegation at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012.

In addition, Amber was the Lead Organizer for the Ocean Dems for Obama out of Toms River, NJ, a grassroots organization started to assist with the re-election of President Obama in 2012. This position included recruiting and gathering volunteers, setting up the Facebook Page, phone banking, fundraising, as well as setting up events on BarackObama.com.

Amber then became a Field Organizer for the Menendez for Senate 2012 Campaign in Middlesex County. She participated in party building techniques, heading teams of volunteers, and staffing political events leading up to the National Election.

Amber knows the problems the average families are facing because she herself comes from an average, middle-class family.  Her parents want to leave the state and enjoy their retirement like many of her friends’ mothers and fathers.  This is because it is becoming harder and harder in NJ to maintain house and home here and enjoy the fruits of their labors.  Amber does NOT want to see that happen!

Amber wants to be the voice for a NEW GENERATION – for fresh, new young people who want to get involved and feel they can’t.  She wants to speak for women and families who struggle to send their kids to college so they can insure that they have a successful career in life. Amber feels that her opponents have lost touch with the local and younger, up-and-coming voters after being in office for so many years.

Amber is looking to run "for" the people of the 10th Legislative District, to serve and help the residents of her hometown post SuperStorm Sandy destruction, as well as committing her time and effort to the important issues affecting her district and the state as a whole.

Along with her running mate Susan Kane, Amber believes it is time for more women to prove that they have what it takes to get things done. They represent the underrepresented. Amber will not only support all bills that will help rebuild our shore and those affected by Super Storm Sandy, but also to help rebuild our Democratic party. She feels we need to be able to tackle issues involving the middle class and not worry about political ties with certain people or organizations. She feels we need answers. Together Amber and Susan will fight to get the people of Legislative District 10 those answers, to improve not only the 10th district, but New Jersey for generations to come.
