5 Things To Do This Weekend

Five events to take in this weekend.

The weather is expected to continue to be pleasant. Here's a few things to enjoy in the comfortable weather:

1. 38th Annual Horseshoe Tournament. Watch and learn as single competitors and doubles teams toss shoes for trophies at Harry Wright Lake. Registration ends at 9 a.m. on Saturday or when the field is full.

2. Take in the Circus. The Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars performs under the big top at the Robert J. Miller Airpark in Berkeley both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s performance starts at 4:30 p.m.; Sunday is 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $14.

3. See an Art Show. The Ocean County Artists’ Guild presents an outdoor art show and sale on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. Come to the grounds of the guild at Chestnut and Ocean avenues in Island Heights and see the work of local artists.

4. Slither Into a Nature Presentation. Scales & Tales at the Cooper Environmental Center at Cattus Island Park in Toms River. Learn about snakes from a naturalist at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. No charge.

5. Go Green, Save Energy. Energy Misers present simple ways to conserve energy at home. It’s 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Jakes Branch County Park, 1100 Double Trouble Road, Beachwood. No charge.
