April 10: Lakehurst History and BlueClaws

Five things to know today

1. The Lakehurst Historical Society will be open today from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Housed in the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Ocean County on 300 Center St. in Lakehurst, the society houses artifacts from the borough's rich history. A friendly staff is more than willing to provide tours and answer questions. Call 732-657-8864 for more information.

2. The BlueClaws 5K run at First Energy Park begins for children at 10 a.m. and adults at 10:30 a.m. Everyone who participates receives a T-shirt. Call 732-901-7000, ext. 170 for more information.

3. After the run, catch the BlueClaws take on the Kannapolis Intimidators at 1:05 p.m. Tickets are only $1 and kids 12 and under eat free. Call 732-901-7000 for more information.

4. Amusements on Jenkinson's Boardwalk are open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bring the kids out to Point Pleasant for some fun. Call 732-892-0600 for more information.

5. Races at the Toms River Yacht Club begin at 9:30 a.m. and are hosted by the Ocean County College sailing team and the yacht club. More information is available by calling 732-255-0348.
