Five things to know today

Looks like we're in for a warmer Thursday, as the National Weather Service expects a sunny day with a high in the mid-60s.

Here are some of today's local happenings:

1. Mr. Scott the Music Man will perform at Manchester's Branch of the Ocean County Library at 10:30 a.m. The tie-dye shirt-wearing Mr. Scott will encourage kids to dance around. Call 732-657-7600 or register online.

2. Also at the library today is the Chicks with Sticks knitting and crocheting group. Join the group from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to share ideas, patterns and make new friends. 

3. Free blood pressure screenings are offered today by the Ocean County Health Department. Stop by the County Connection in the Ocean County Mall from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for testing.

4. The BlueClaws will take on the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 6:35 p.m. at FirstEnergy Field in nearby Lakewood. Magnetic schedules will be given away. Call 732-901-7000 for ticket information.

5. Today's high school sports match-ups include Manchester boys baseball vs. Brick Township, 3:30 p.m. at home, and Manchester girls softball vs. Brick Township, 3:45 p.m., also at home.
