April 23: Free Audio Book Demo, Races and More

Five things to know today

We may see some showers in the morning, but according to the National Weather Service, any rain should be gone before 2 p.m. After that, it may be windy, but the high temperature should settle in the low-60s.

Here are today's five things:

1. While Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library does not have any events scheduled for today, Toms River's branch has a demonstration on downloading free audio books to your computer or portable audio player. Call ahead to register at 732-349-6200.

2. The Robert J. Novins Planetarium has a number of shows: "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure" at 11:30 a.m., "Exploring the Spring Sky" at 1 p.m. and "Dawn of the Space Age" at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 12 and under and OCC students. 3. Tickets for Funtown Pier, Casino Pier and Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights are half-price. Attractions will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 800-732-7467 for more information.

4. A quilt show will be held at the Havens Homestead Museum, 521 Herbertsville Road, Brick, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Call 732-785-2500 for more information.

5. Gates open at the New Egypt Speedway, 720 Route 539, at 4 p.m. in anticipation of 6 p.m. races. An Easter party and egg hunt are scheduled. Call 609-758-1900 for more information.
