Five things to know today

After yesterday's sometimes heavy rains, today promises to be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Looks like the weekend should be nice, too.

Here are some of today's local happenings:

1. The Manchester Municipal Alliance is today in support of Project Graduation. The event, to be held in the municipal complex parking lot, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

2. Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library will commemorate the Holocaust with a film screening and discussion at 2 p.m. Ocean County College professor and Shalom Book Club leader Ali Botein-Furrevig will host the discussion. Call 732-657-7600 for more information.

3. The BlueClaws are playing the Charleston Riverdogs at 7:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Field in Lakewood. A fireworks presentation will follow the game. Call 732-901-7000 for ticket information.

4. Etta May will perform at the Strand Center for the Arts at 8 p.m. Ticket information is available online.

5. The Robert J. Novins Planetarium has two shows: "Exploring the Spring Sky" at 7 p.m. and "Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions" at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 12 and under and OCC students. Call 732-255-0343 for more information.
