Five things to know in and around Manchester today

Here are some of today's local happenings:

1. It's the first Monday of the month, which means that Manchester's planning board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at the on Colonial Drive.

2. If your child needs a bit of help with his or her reading skills, the "Read to the Dogs" program at  may help. Beginner readers can hone their reading skills as a certified therapy dog listens patiently from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration for a 15 minute slot is required by calling 732-657-7600.

3. The library also has a program to help patrons find the best travel websites to use when booking vacations from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

4. Music Monday at Seaside Heights features the Jersey Jam Time Machine at the Hiering Avenue Ocean Front Stage at 7 p.m. Call 800-732-7467 for more information.
