Aug. 2: National Night Out, Writer's Circle Meets and Yosi Performs

Five things to know in and around Manchester today

Today should be sunny with a high nearing 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Stay cool out there.

Here are some of today's local events:

1. Lakehurst will hold its event from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the baseball field on Chestnut Street. Meet the borough's police officers, play games, have some food and more at the free event.

2. The Writer's Circle meets at  of the Ocean County Library today. Bring your works to the library and receive critiques from other aspiring writers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 732-657-7600 for more information. 

3. Also at the library, the Teen Advisory Board's game night for children in grades 7-12 begins at 6:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite game.

4. The Ocean County Office of Veterans Services and Workforce N.J.'s Veterans Assistance will be available to help vets from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you're a veteran who needs information on employment, health services and benefits, the County Connection in the Ocean County Mall may offer assistance. Call 732-288-7777 for more information.

5. Children's musician will perform at the Ocean County Park Beach Complex in Lakewood at 1 p.m. For more information, call 732-506-9090.
