Aug. 24: Manchester BOE Meeting, Book Discussion and Free Movie

Five things to know in and around Manchester today

With possibly nearing our area this weekend, it's time to enjoy today's expected sunny skies and high of 84 degrees, as forecast by the National Weather Service. Patch will provide updates throughout the week.

Here are some of today's local events:

1. Manchester's  is set to meet at 7:30 p.m. at the administrative offices, 121 Route 539 in Whiting. The location may change, so check the district website before heading out.

2. A book discussion at Manchester's library will focus on "Henry and Mudge and the Sneaky Crackers" by Cynthia Rylant. The program for children ages 6-8 begins at 10 a.m.

3. "The Lincoln Lawyer" will be shown at Manchester's library at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The R-rated legal thriller stars Matthew McConaughey.

4. Fireworks will be viewable from the Seaside Heights boardwalk at 9:30 p.m. For more information, call 800-732-7467.

5. Glass artist Tari Zarka will give a demonstration and have items for sale at 15 North Long Beach Blvd. in Surf City from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
