Feb. 19: Craft Fair, Model Train Show and Mary Todd Lincoln

A craft fair, model train show, Mary Todd Lincoln reenactment and more

Temperatures are expected to cool a bit today, according to the National Weather Service, as our high is expected to come in around 49 degrees. Wind gusts could reach 47 mph.

Here are some local happenings for today:

1. St. Stephens Episcopal Church of Whiting, 180 Rte. 539, will hold its first Mother's Day Fair from 12 to 5 p.m. Entry to the craft and vendor fair is free. The church requests visitors bring a non-perishable food item. Call 732-350-2121 for more information.

2. The Ocean County Historical Society, 26 Madley Ave. in Toms River, will hold its Model Train Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for children or $5 for families. Call 732-341-1880 for more information. 

3. Rolling Thunder Inc., Chapter 2, will hold an open house for Veteran's Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with special guest Judith Tapper. The event is at the Lacey Community Hall, Route 9 and Lacey Road, in Forked River, Call 609-971-3544 for more information.

4.  The Robert J. Novins Planetarium at the Ocean County College has a variety of shows today. One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure plays at 11:30 a.m. Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions plays at 2:30 p.m and 7 p.m. Finally, Dawn of the Space Age plays at 8:15 p.m. Tickets for the shows, which runs about an hour, are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 12 and under and OCC students. 5. Mary Todd Lincoln reenactor Judi Cox will be at Laurita Winery, 85 Archertown Rd. in New Egypt from 1 to 5 p.m. to share stories about the first lady's time in the White House. Call 609-758-8000 for more information.
