Feb. 23: Free Movie, Computer Class and History

Five things going on around town today

After yesterday's bit of snow, most of which has hopefully melted by now, today is expected to be sunny with a high of 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. 

Here are some local happenings today:

1. Been meaning to check out the Academy Award-nominated "The Social Network"? The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library is screening the PG-13 rated film, which tells the complicated founding of Facebook, at 2 and 6 p.m.

2. The Manchester Hawks girls basketball team are away today as they face Freehold Township High School at 4 p.m.

3. The Lakehurst Historical Society Museum is scheduled to open today from 12 to 3 p.m. Located at 300 Center St., the museum is home to remains of the Hindenburg and other artifacts from the borough's storied history. Call 732-657-8864 for more information.

4. Presenter George Cooke will speak about the art, science and philosophy of Ancient Egypt at Georgian Court University's Little Theatre, 900 Lakewood Ave. in Lakewood, at 5:30 p.m. Those interested can register by calling 732-987-2232.

5. The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library will hold a class on Basic Word 2007 from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants will learn how to use the word processor to compose documents. Call 732-657-7600 or register online.
