Five things happening today

It's bound to be a and rainy one out there today, so travel safely. 

Here are some things to consider as we head into the weekend:

1. The Manchester Hawks girls basketball team is set to travel to Southern Regional for a 4 p.m. game.

2. Georgian Court University in nearby Lakewood presents "The State of the Civil Rights Movement in a Post-Cosby Society at 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre. Call 732-987-2232 for more information.

3. The Robert J. Novins Planetarium has two shows today: Wonders of the Winter Sky at 7 p.m. and Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions at 8:15 p.m. Tickets for the shows, which run about an hour, are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 12 and under and OCC students. 4. It's day two of the Ocean County Vocational Technical School Performing Arts Academy production of "Les Miserables." In addition to the $19 regular performance-only tickets for the 7 p.m. show at the Strand Center for the Performing Arts in Lakewood, a $75 Red Carpet Reception package, which beings at 5 p.m. and includes dinner, is also available. 5. If you're looking to get out of the house this weekend, Hemingway's Cafe, 612 Boulevard, Seaside Heights, has a happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and no cover at night when DJ Milky Mike spins. Call 732-830-1256 for more information.
