GALLERY: Commemorating Memorial Day at Lake Horicon

Local organizations presented wreaths at Fleet Reserve ceremony

Local organizations and residents gathered Monday afternoon at Lake Horicon Park in Lakehurst to commemorate Memorial Day.

Wreaths were placed by representatives from the borough's government, police department, first aid squad, fire department, boy scouts and VFW Post 10061 at the ceremony hosted by the Branch 124 of the Fleet Reserve Association. Representatives from Whiting's first aid squad and fire department were also present.

Bill Anthony, president of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 124, spoke briefly about the sacrifices made by those who served in the armed forces.

"Let it be a reminder of the faith they confide in us, and let us not forget our obligation," he said.
