Below are some of today's local events:

2. Birding by Kayak will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Island Beach State Park. Call 732-793-1698 for more information.

4. Downey Side, a non-profit adoption agency based in Point Pleasant, is holding a casino fundraising event at the Crystal Point Yacht Club at 6 p.m. For more information call 732-295-5600.

5. The Summerfest Concert featuring Jimmy and the Parrots and fireworks at Windward Beach in Brick begins at 5 p.m., with concert at 6 p.m. Fireworks will start at dusk. Busses will run continuously from Drum Point School, Midstreams Elementary School and Brick High School from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Children 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
