March 7: 'Hairspray' Tickets, Chef's Night Out and First Ladies

Five things to know for today

It's the start of a new week and it looks like we're in for some mild weather. Check our to see how things are shaping up.

Here are some things to consider for today:

1. Tickets for the Friday and Saturday performances of "Hairspray" at Manchester high school can be purchased in the school's lobby today from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.Β Advance tickets cost $6 for students, $8 for adults or, if available, $10 at the door. For more information, call 732-408-2546.

2. The Manchester Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at the municipal complex. The meetings, which are held on the first Monday of each month, were cancelled for January and February because of a lack of agenda so we will keep an eye on this one.

3. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Education Scholarship and Grant Fund will host its 15th Annual International Chef's Night Out. More than 70 local vendors will present their foods, wines and more at the Poland Spring Arena at High School North in Toms River. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance by calling 732-240-6414, Ext. 3339.

4. The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library presents, "Lady Bird, Pat and Betty: Tea for Three," at 6:30 p.m. The play will examine the lives of three First Ladies. Call 732-657-7600 for more information or register online.

5.Β Also at the library, the branch will hold a class on Basic Word 2007 from 2 p.m. Participants will learn how to use the word processor to compose documents. Call 732-657-7600 orΒ register online.
