Monday, June 6

  • If your child needs a bit of help with his or her reading skills, the "Read to the Dogs" program at may help. Beginner readers can hone their reading skills as  Merlin, a certified therapy dog, listens patiently from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Registration for a 15 minute slot is required by calling 732-657-7600.
  • Manchester's Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at the township's  on Colonial Drive. The agenda is posted online

  • The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties' mobile pantry will distribute canned vegetables, fruits, pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly and more at 10 a.m. at the Lakehurst United Methodist Church, 204 Elm St. Call 732-918-2600 for more information.

Wednesday, June 8

  • The film "Morning Glory," starring Harrison Ford will be shown at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Manchester library. The PG-13 rated film tells the tale of a TV news producer who deals with a stubborn morning show anchor.

  • Mayor Michael Fressola and Manchester's Township Council will hold a "Spring into Health Fair" at 10 a.m. in the basement civic center. Presentations from representatives from Atlantic Physical Therapy Center will include fall prevention, sub acute rehab services and senior fitness. Free screenings for balance, heart, blood pressure and flexibility will be given. A second session, if needed, will be held at 1 p.m. RSVP by calling 732-657-8121, ext. 3501.

  • The BlueClaws will take on the West Virginia Power at 7:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. A fireworks display will follow the action. Call 732-901-7000 for ticket information.

Saturday, June 11

  • The will hold its 18th Annual Bike Rodeo at Lake Horicon Park for children in grades pre-K through 8th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Safety inspections, free food and an obstacle course will be on-hand. Helmets are required.
