May 10: MTHS Blood Drive and Marching Hawks Recruitment

Five things to know today

The National Weather Service is calling for another mostly sunny day, with a high near 68 degrees.

Here are some of today's local happenings:

1. Manchester Township High School students and staff, ages 17 and up, are invited to donate blood to the American Red Cross from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school's gym. Check the eligibility requirements before donating.

2. The Marching Hawks are recruiting members for fall 2011 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the high school's band room. Students entering grades seven through 12 with any level of experience may join. Call band director Raymond Sinclair at 732-408-2566 for more information.

3. The Ocean County Board of Social Services will be at the Community Connection from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to talk to eligible residents about assistance programs. Call 732-288-7777 for more information.

4. Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library has a computer class at 10 a.m. If you need help with word processing, register online or call 732-657-7600 to participate in Basic Word 2007.

5. The Manchester Hawks boys varsity tennis team will take on Brick Township for a 3:45 p.m. home game.
