Five things to know today

Today should be mostly sunny and temperatures are expected to near 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Here are some of today's local events:

1. Manchester's board of education and members of the town council will at 6 p.m. at Ridgeway Elementary School.

2. The Chicks with Sticks knitting and crocheting group will meet at Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library today. Join the group from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to share ideas, patterns and make new friends. For more information, call 732-657-7600.

3. Free blood pressure screenings are offered today by the Ocean County Health Department. Stop by the County Connection in the Ocean County Mall from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for testing.

4. The Ocean County Historical Society will hold Spring Tea in the Victorian Tradition from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scones, finger foods and desserts will be served in the museum's Pierson Sculthorp House. More information is available by calling 732-341-1880.

5. Ocean County College will host the Barnegat Bay Partnership's 2011 State of the Bay Conference at 1 p.m. at the college's Arts and Community Center. Register by calling 732-255-0472.
