Five things to know today

Looks like we're in for another sunny day, with a high of 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Sounds like a good opportunity to take those lunches outside.

Below are some of today's local happenings:

1. Quilters can drop in at the Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library for the Quilting Bee group from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The group shares ideas, techniques and patterns. Today's topic is Paper Piecing. Call 732-657-7600 for more information.

2. The BlueClaws will take on the Hagerstown Suns at 7:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. A fireworks display will follow the game. Call 732-901-7000 for ticket information.

3. The Robert J. Novins Planetarium has two shows: "Exploring the Spring Sky" at 7 p.m. and "Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions" at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 12 and under and OCC students. Call 732-255-0343 for more information.

4. The Jersey Shore Kids Consignment Sale will be held at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information is available online. Stay for the game afterwards.

5. It's Italian Night at St. Pio Parish Center in Lavallette from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dinner includes salad, pasta and dessert, and benefits Simon's Soup Kitchen. More information is available by calling 732-793-7291.
