Today should be sunny with a high near 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Below are some local happenings for today:

1. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued code orange air quality alert in Ocean County for today. According to a statement, this means that "air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups" including children, those with asthma and the elderly. Strenuous activity and outdoor exercise should be avoided.

2. will host its Underclass Awards ceremony at 6 p.m.

3. The BlueClaws will take on the Delmarva Shorebirds at 6:35 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. It's Senior Day Tuesday. Call 732-901-7000 for ticket information.
