May 9: Police Unity Tour, Manchester Town Council and Spring Concert

Five things to know today

It looks like we'll start the week off with a partly sunny day and a high temperature of 71 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Below are today's local happenings:

1. The Police Unity Tour will make a stop in Manchester at 11 a.m. before heading to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. Officer Robert Tobias, who was killed while conducting a traffic stop on May 17, 1975, when a driver left the roadway and struck him, will be honored. Expect local road closures.

2. Manchester's town council will meet at 6 p.m. at the municipal complex on Colonial Drive. The draft agenda is availabe online.

3. From 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Workforce New Jersey's Christine Karaska will be at the County Connection's Ocean County Mall office with tips on how to land the right job. Bring your resume to the Connection's office located near JC Penny's. Call 732-288-7777 for more information.

4. Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library will host "Telling Your Story" at 2 p.m. The event will teach patrons ways to pass on their life stories in fun ways. Call 732-657-7600 for more information.

5. As part of Georgian Court University's Spring Concert Series, the Court Singers and Guitar Ensemble will perform at the Lakewood campus at 7:30 p.m. Call 732-987-2232 for more information.
