Weekend Planner: Bowling Tournament, Kevin's Kids Gift Preparation and Holiday Fun

Events in and around Manchester this weekend

1. The South Jersey Singles bowling tournament kicks off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Ocean Lanes in Lakewood. Last week, the boys and girls bowling teams at the Bishop Ahr Holiday Classic in New Brunswick. 

2. Kevin's Kids volunteers will head out to the stores to shop for toys for families in need on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, volunteers will gather at Manchester Township Middle School to wrap and ready the gifts for distribution. . 

3. The Manchester Police Athletic League is holding its Lunch with Santa at Ridgeway Elementary School at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday. A $6 pre-registration fee was required for the event. More information is available by calling 732-657-7876.

4. The Church of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Whiting . This weekend's “Night in Bethlehem” is meant to share the true meaning and story of Christmas while providing a live, historical reenactment of life in Bethlehem. For a $1 admission fee, visitors can experience the display for themselves from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the church, 30 Schoolhouse Road in Whiting.

5. The 14th annual Jingle Bell 5K Run kicks off Sunday at the Mancini Hall at the Ocean County Library's Toms River branch. Registration and check-in begins at 1:30 p.m. — the 1 mile fitness fun run/fitness walk begins at 3 p.m. and the 5K race is at 3:30 p.m. Call 732-341-8738 for more information.
