Weekend Planner: Fall Festival, Oktoberfest and Flea Market

Events in and around Manchester and Lakehurst this weekend

1.Building on the success of the inaugural season of the Lakehurst Farmer's Market held over the summer, the borough's Revitalization Association will host a Fall Festival from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lake Horicon. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Lakehurst Historical Society will hold a flea market at the Community Center on Center Street

2. A free Oktoberfest, complete with music, games and pony rides, is coming to Whiting from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Whiting Town Center. To cap off the event, members from The Studio Stage, a theatre company located in the shopping center, will perform excerpts from "Little Shop of Horrors: The Musical" from 5 to 7 p.m.

3. The annual Cedar Glen West flea market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and will feature over 50 tables. Stop by Bluejay Street to check out the "attic treasure" which will be on hand. 

4. Join the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company at Applebee's on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. for a flapjack fundraiser. A $10 ticket buys pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and beverage breakfast. Call 732-864-6965 for tickets. 

5. The Manchester Regular Republican Club's Red, White and Blue Home Cooked "On To Victory Buffet Breakfast" will be held at the Pine Lake Park Clubhouse on Saturday at 10 a.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at the door or by contacting Grace Peck 732-505-0074 or MaryLouise Dudley 732-995-8086.

What about when you needed a job, who gave you one? With the Director gone work will start going to contractors again. Everyone will pay. Taxpayers and employees. Did you read the article he wrote? If you didn't maybe you should. You too, nobody special. Who hired you? You will be picking up trash real soon. Are you going to grieve that too?

GET R DONE...Public Works LABORERS get paid peanuts for all the work they do.They work in allRead More temps/rain or shine and are always working hard,from building sports complex's to bulk pickup to brush/leaf pickup snow removal paving roads etc,however i never hear anything at all nice said about them!why is that?When are THEY going to be in photo shoots cutting ribbons!I Residents want their moneys worth from their hard earned tax dollars.....lets start with the top heavy supervision.

Director Stanziano has been singing the praises of his workers for years. Did you read ANY of theRead More past articles on the Patch and in Manchester Times? How about his articles in magazines with pictures of his workers? He wrote about how his workers saved the town money. HE got them all raises, NOT the union. Yes let's start with TOP HEAVY supervision. Start at the TOP on the 2nd floor of town hall. Time to cut some of the FAT!
