Five things to do in and around Manchester as the weekend begins

The weekend weather should be similar to the past few days, as the National Weather Service is calling for a high of 91 degrees on Saturday, and a high of 89 on Sunday. Both days should be sunny, as no rain is in the forecast.

Here are some events to check out this weekend:

1. On Sunday, a  for the Manchester Department of Recreation's performance of "Willy Wonka" will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at .

2. "Hairspray" will be staged at the Strand Theatre in Lakewood on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Call 732-367-7789 for ticket information.

3. A concert at the Ocean County Artists Guild in Island Heights begins on Saturday at 8 p.m. with Tony Pileggi on vocals and Joe Stamboni on the guitar. The art gallery will be open from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information is available online or by calling 732-270-3111.
