Weekend Planner: Marching Hawks Competition, Beach Sweeps and Comedy Show

Events in and around Manchester this weekend

Enjoy the weekend with these local events. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny with a high nearing 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

1.  will host the "Music Under the Stars" marching band show at 5 p.m. Saturday. The Hawks will compete against Jackson Memorial, Jackson Liberty, Freehold and Toms River East. Ticket proceeds will go to benefit the marching band program. 

2. Comics will take the stage at the Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood, 8 p.m. Saturday. Shaun Eli, Wali Collins and Dan Naturman will perform at the historic venue on Clifton Avenue. Call 732-367-7789 for ticket information.

3. Beach sweeps, organized by Clean Ocean Action, are scheduled all throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. More information and locations .

4. The Pine Lake Park Club House will hold its Children's Halloween Party from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Registration is required. Call 732-505-0074 for more information.

5. Watch the stars at the Robert J. Novins Planetarium at the Ocean County College during its shows Saturday and Sunday. Show descriptions and schedules are available online, or call 732-255-0342 for more information. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for children 12 and under and OCC students.
