Weekend Planner: Patriot Day Volunteerism, Sept. 11 Commemorations and Nuclear Safety Meeting

Five things to do in and around Manchester this weekend

1. Children ages 9-12 are invited to volunteer at of the Ocean County Library beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday in commemoration of Patriot Day. Call 732-657-7600 for more information.

2.ย A Saturday meeting will be held updating the public on the risks of nuclear plants in the United States at the Ocean County Library in Toms River at 1:30 p.m.

3. The Tribute to First Responders/9-11 Night at the New Egypt Speedway will be held on Saturday night. Check online or call 609-758-1900 for the schedule.

4. On Sunday, the 8th Annual Dog Walk for Cancer at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A minimum donation for $15 per registration is asked. Proceeds benefit the Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center and therapy dog organizations. Call 732-831-0203 for more information.

5. A number of 9/11 commemorations will be held throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties on Sunday, marking the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the United States. for ceremonies in the area.
