A Dog Park in Lakehurst?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a dog park in Lakehurst?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a dog park in Lakehurst?

Many of the residents of Lakehurst own a dog, many of them have several dogs, and there are very few places in the neighborhood that allow dogs to run around and get exercise off leash, which is sad considering just HOW many dogs there are JUST in Lakehurst!

We have a little fenced-in yard for our dog, but the benefits of being able to run and play with other dogs for her is HUGE! She comes home nice and tired and that's a benefit for US as well! Hehe.

However, the closest dog park is in Miller Air Park which is a very long ride to take when there are many, many areas in town that could be designated for a park just for dogs, near the post office, the lake, the land near public works, etc. And I don't think it would cost that much to implement something like that.

That would be so great if there was one.

I don't have a problem with a dog park however I do have a problem with the lazy, self-absorbed owners that don't clean up after their dogs. The lake is NOT the spot for it. I bring my children there and I don't want to come home with poop on their shoes every time, nor do I want to worry if the dogs are going to be friendly with the children. There are many responsible pet owners out there but unfortunately there are also many that are not.

A dog park is a fenced in area for dogs and their owners, so you really wouldn't have to worry about poop on your shoes etc, Anywhooo... it's a wonder that you're concerned about dog poop when the entire lake doubles as a toilet for the geese.

BettyBoop, I'm not looking to get into a debate with you all I'm saying is as a taxpayer in Lakehurst I say 'NO' to the lake. I never read a blog suggesting that the geese should take over the lake or I would've stated that I didn't want the geese there either. Also, I would imagine the dogs will have to walk to and from the gated area correct???

I agree with your comment before, about responsible and not so responsible dog owners, the responsible ones would obviously clean up after their dog. The lake area was only a suggestion, there are plenty of other spots to have a dog park in Lakehurst.

I don't agree with using the lake. But thier are nature trails around the lake that maybe dog waste bag stations can be installed. Or if the old dump by pw doesn't pan out as a solar field or commercial usage then fence it in.

WOW! Both of those ideas are great ! If you really think about it, Lakehurst is sort of off the beaten path, and driving to either 1 of the 2 dog parks that are in Ocean County is quite a hike ! So I really hope a Lakehurst neighborhood dog park becomes a reality one day :D

You would do good if your were silent. You make very little sense and misstated the facts in justRead More about everything you said from landfill stickers to recycling to water revenue. What about when you needed a job, who gave you one? With the Director gone work will start going to contractors again. Everyone will pay. Taxpayers and employees. Did you read the article he wrote? If you didn't maybe you should. You too, nobody special. Who hired you? You will be picking up trash real soon. Are you going to grieve that too?
