Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey’s “Blue to You” Van Delivering Service on Wheels in Ocean County

It’s a Van. It’s Customer Service. It’s Wellness.  It’s Coming to Your Neighborhood.

Ocean County residents are now getting person to person customer service to check on claims, find a local network physician, gain access to locally-based senior services, check out a health and wellness seminar and much more – all in one convenient place – the mobile Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey “Blue to you” van.

The van began traveling throughout Ocean County this spring to libraries, festivals, fairs, sporting events and other local hotspots. The new, multi-purpose vehicle is equipped with touchscreen TVs, iPads and other technology linked directly to company, health and community information.  The wheelchair accessible vehicle is also staffed by specially trained advisors to bring company services directly into New Jersey’s communities

“Horizon’s objective is to deliver good old fashion customer service, face to face, to members and the public at large,” said Joseph Albano, Vice President of Consumer and Senior Markets at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. “As a New Jersey company established nearly 80 years ago, Horizon is closely connected to the communities we serve.  This van will strengthen this connection and more holistically meet people’s needs by going to them…right in their home town,” he said.

The “Blue to you” van will be traveling to the following Ocean County locations this month:

April 20 -         WOBM Senior Expo, Quality Inn, 815 Rt. 37, West Toms River, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

April 20 -         OC Library – Manchester, 21 Colonial Drive, Manchester, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

April 24 -         Lakewood BlueClaws, First Energy Stadium, Lakewood, 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

In addition to these locations, the “Blue to you” van will be visiting various retirement

communities in Ocean County during the month, including Crestwood Village 1, 2 and 5, Atlantic Hill, Fawn Lakes, Lions Head, Westlake Golf and Country Club, Gardens of Pleasant Plains, and Holiday City South.  Further scheduling information can be obtained by contacting the business offices of these communities directly.

“We hope that our members and the public view the van as a community resource and mainstay where they can connect to important and valuable services and find someone who can steer them through the complexities of health insurance coverage,” Albano said.
