Local Gas Price Average Drops for Second Straight Week

Barrel of oil falls to $80

Average gas prices for the area drop by 8 cents versus last week, as oil prices briefly dropped below $80 a barrel on Thursday before recovering to $80.51.

The decrease comes from Wednesday’s Federal Reserve announcement that economic growth is slow, taking away confidence from traders. Economists have also shown doubt to the Fed’s attempt to stimulate economic growth through their plan to lower long term interest rates at a time that interest rates are already at low levels.

For Manchester and Lakehurst residents, the average price for a gallon of regular is $3.34 as of Thursday night, down from $3.42 last Friday.
