The Studio Stage Holding 'RENT' Auditions
Whiting theatre company will stage the Broadway hit in October
The Studio Stage, a theatre company located in Whiting, has announced that it will stage the Broadway hit "RENT" in October and is holding open auditions for parts in the production.
Those wishing to audition for the musical -- which has been edited to make it "more PG," according to Producing Artistic Director Michael Grande -- should prepare 16 bars of a Broadway-caliber song and be familiar with the song as a whole. A one minute monologue is also requested, Grande said.
The producers request that those auditioning also acquaint themselves with the music and story of RENT, the Tony Award winning production about struggling young artists in New York, before coming in. Prospective cast should also be prepared to slate themselves appropriately, Grande said. Resumes and headshots are not required.

Those who wish to audition should be age 17 and up and written parental consent is required for minors. According to Grande, no fees are needed from participants to become a part of the production, which will be staged on Oct. 26, 27 and 28 at 2 and 6 p.m. in the company's Whiting Town Center theatre.
Auditions will be held by appointment, which can be made by calling The Studio Stage at 732-350-2320. More information about the company can be found online.
